Accountancyquake – The New Realities of Resourcing and Managing Your Firm (People. The Great Resignation. Overcoming It All)

Date: May 11, 2022
Time: 10:15 am - 10:45 am
Speaker: Des O'Neil - Founder, CPDStore
The greatest limiting factor for accounting businesses is not customers or pricing, or competition or regulation. The greatest limitation we face is people. The people who help us get the result that our customers want and need. The WHOs who get things done and deliver the Hows. For a noble profession that is built on the concept of articled clerks the game has changed. The war for talent has not just started. It is in full swing and talent has already won. How do accounting businesses compete and win in this environment? What are the practical things you can do to attract and retain the talent you want and need?

Handling HMRC R&D Enquiries
in 2022

Date: May 11, 2022
Time: 1:00 pm - 1:45 pm
Speaker: Simon Briton - Quantify R&D
We are currently experiencing uncertain times with Covid-19, Brexit, Climate change, technological change, etc. These events make the economy more volatile and more difficult to predict which makes our jobs as accountants more difficult.

In this session we will consider the impact these events have on financial statements drafted under FRS 102. We will be looking at going concern, valuations and impairments and significant judgements and estimates.

Accounting in Times of Uncertainty (Covid, Brexit, Climate Change, FRS 102)

Date: May 12 2022
Time: 10:15 am - 10:45 am
Speaker: Lindsay Webber - Technical Executive, CPDStore
R&D claims are an increasingly important part of the advisor’s toolkit but very few advisers have experience of HMRC enquiries into claims.

That is all about to change with HMRC having recently recruited lots of new R&D inspectors and announced that they are shifting emphasis onto policing claims. This technical session will show you what HMRC enquiries are really asking and how to handle them with confidence.

The Membership Revolution – Netflix and What’s Next for the Accounting Profession

Speaker: Des O'Neil - Founder, CPDStore
The accountancy profession was way ahead on the recurring revenue model since day 1. Taxes are not a once off event they are a recurring one which keeps bringing the clients back again and again. In recent years we have experienced and witnessed the Membership Revolution. From books and newspapers to music and movies and from cars and earthmovers to health and medical care. Its all about the ARR, MRR, CLV and Churn Rate. In this energised exchange of knowledge Des and Lucy will share not just the theories of memberised professional service firms but the practical realities of what is possible.
